Xiaomi released the Redmi Note 7 series in India to immense success. Having sold over 2 million units of the Note 7 and Note 7 Pro in India alone, the Chinese smartphone maker is set to bring another value-for-money handset to the Redmi Note 7 series.

Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi’s Global VP and Managing Director India recently confirmed the launch of the Redmi Note 7S through his Twitter handle. The tweet also confirmed that the upcoming Note 7S would feature a 48-megapixel primary sensor. Redmi also confirmed the new handset would arrive on the 20th of May through a post on Twitter.
This is the first time Xiaomi is introducing a Note S variant. But that can be attributed to the fact that the company reigned supreme as the budget king in India’s smartphone market.

However, Realme and Samsung’s Galaxy A series are beginning to threaten that reign, which is possibly why the company have taken steps to offer consumers more alternatives.

Both the Realme 3 Pro and Galaxy A 50 recently emerged as very capable competitors, threatening the once dominant Note series. While the Realme 3 Pro offers better specifications than the Note 7 Pro, the A50 has given it a tough competition with its amazing OLED display.

While other specs of the Note 7S aren’t available, we believe Xiaomi is looking to combine a stellar brand reputation and above average mid-tier specs on a budget smartphone to completely remove any lingering of doubts a price-conscious Indian consumer may face while looking to buy a smartphone under Rs 20,000.
