In today’s fast-paced professional world, many individuals neglect their health in pursuit of career goals, racing to meet deadlines while juggling multiple responsibilities. The relentless always-on work culture often comes at a cost, as one CEO recently learned.
Amit Mishra, CEO and founder of Dazeinfo Media & Research Pvt Ltd, took to LinkedIn to share a personal experience that underscored the importance of prioritising health over work. In a post, he recounted how he suffered an unexpected medical emergency while working on his laptop.
“Work is important, but health is non-negotiable,” he wrote.
Mishra described how, without any prior symptoms, he suddenly experienced uncontrollable nosebleeds, which resulted in an urgent trip to the hospital. Once admitted, doctors found that his blood pressure (BP) had soared to 230—a dangerously high level that landed him in the intensive care unit (ICU).
The CEO emphasised that he had experienced no headaches, dizziness, or any prior history of high blood pressure, making the episode all the more alarming.
“No headaches, no dizziness, no warnings, no history of BP,” he wrote. “Yet I landed in this unexpected crisis.”
In a further twist, Mishra revealed that the next day, his BP levels suddenly dropped without any clear explanation. He remains under medical supervision, with doctors still investigating the cause of the sudden spike and drop in blood pressure.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding his condition, the CEO used his experience to issue a stark warning to professionals who often neglect their health in favour of work.
Drawing from his experience, Mishra urged professionals to take health seriously and not ignore warning signs, even when they seem insignificant.
“Your body doesn’t always give clear warnings. High BP, stress, and health risks can be silent killers. Regular checkups are a must.”
He also cautioned against ignoring small signs of physical stress, stating that many people assume they are fine until it is too late.
“Work is important, but health is non-negotiable. We often ignore small signs, thinking we’re fine, until we’re not.”
Mishra concluded his post with an earnest piece of advice for professionals, encouraging them to listen to their bodies before it is too late.
“Listen to your body. Don’t wait for a wake-up call like mine.”

We often see people over 50 just end up going for a normal walk as a start. In fact, sports is something that should be part of our daily routine right from youth/childhood.”
