Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu are among four states with over 50 percent rainfall surplus

India’s rainfall deficit further narrowed to 6.8 percent until July 1, compared with 10.9 percent on the previous day, according to data released by the Indian Meteorological Department.

Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu were among the four states with a rainfall surplus of over 50 percent.

IMD on Monday noted that India is likely to face above-normal rainfall in July.

Thirteen of the 36 states and UTs have faced a rainfall surplus, with 21 facing deficiency. Chandigarh faces the highest deficit levels at 86 per cent. (see graphic)
