The curious case of a 7-year-old's eye surgery: no proof of operation, wrong eye bandaged

A private hospital in Greater Noida is under fire after allegations surfaced that it operated on the wrong eye of a seven-year-old boy and charged Rs 45,000 for the procedure. In a shocking twist, a follow-up examination at another medical facility reportedly found no evidence of surgery on either eye, raising questions about medical malpractice and transparency.

The boy’s father, Nitin Bhati, a resident of nearby Bisrakh, said he sought medical help after his son’s left eye had been watering persistently for over a week. The hospital, citing the possibility of a foreign object, probably plastic in the eye, recommended surgery, The Indian Express reported.

On November 11, the hospital allegedly performed the procedure around 9:30 am and returned within two minutes, claiming the operation was successful. They allegedly also showed the father an image of the plastic they said was removed.

The family’s ordeal worsened when they noticed back at home that the boy’s right eye was bandaged instead of the left, which had been the cause of concern.
