Stephen Colbert dedicated an entire segment of his late night chat show to Prince William’s alleged affair with Lady Rose Hanbury amid the ongoing royal family drama. The American talk show host addressed long-shrouded rumours that the future king of England is having – or has had – an extra-marital affair with the Marchioness of Cholmondeley.

The bombshell segment comes the mysterious ‘disappearance’ of Prince William’s wife, Kate Middleton – the Princess of Wales has not been seen in public since December 25, 2023. Although Kensington Palace shared a statement saying Kate is recovering from a planned abdominal surgery and will resume official duties after Easter, it has only served to inflame rumours that all is not right within the British royal family.

Royal fans have taken to social media in droves to question Kate’s puzzling absence from the public eye – noting that this is perhaps the longest that any member of the royal family has gone without an official appearance. In fact, what started as a few lighthearted memes on Kate’s absence has now turned into a PR disaster for the royal family, with mainstream media picking up on his alleged affair with Lady Rose Hanbury, Marchioness of Cholmondeley.

After the Independent ran a profile on Hanbury, Stephen Colbert also addressed Kate’s disappearance and allegations of Prince William having an affair – blowing the lid off a topic that the British press has long avoided.

“The kingdom has been all aflutter by the seeming disappearance of Kate Middleton. Well now, internet sleuths are guessing that Kate’s absence may be related to her husband and the future King of England William having an affair,” the comedian said on Tuesday’s episode of “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.”
“Oh no, my heart goes out to poor Kate,” he continued. “I’m ready to spill the tea… I think we all know who the alleged other woman is. Say it with me –– the Marchioness of Cholmondeley,” he added, mispronouncing Cholmondeley.
