Your smartphone fires electromagnetic waves whenever it is turned on; that’s how phones send signals. Smartphone radiation is the amount of energy absorbed by your body from the electromagnetic waves your phone discharges.

The amount of radiation a smartphone gives out is measured in Specific Absorption Rate or SAR for short. According to the US Government, any phone with an SAR rating of 1.6 watts per kilogram (1.6 W/kg) and below is safe to use.
