Ronnie Screwvala, movie producer and the co-founder and chairperson of edtech firm upGrad, and Varun Dua, the CEO of Acko general insurance are the latest to join the third season of popular business reality show Shark Tank India as judges.
The new "Sharks" -- as judges on the show are called -- bring up the total number to 12 this season.
The other new judges to join the panel this year include Radhika Gupta (CEO of Edelweiss MF), Ritesh Agarwal (founder and CEO of OYO Rooms), Deepinder Goyal (founder and CEO of Zomato), and Azhar Iqubal (co-founder and CEO of Inshorts).
This is almost twice the number of judges the show usually has and has prompted reactions from fans and former Shark Tank India judge Ashneer Grover.
"Shark Tank 3 is ‘audition’ of sharks for Shark Tank 4! Life mein ek lesson hai -- don’t change and make unnecessary problem of something which is already solved. Wish quantity solves for quality!" he wrote on X.
Ashneer Grover was one of the judges on the first season of Shark Tank India and has gathered immense popularity during the show. He was, however, dropped after his fallout with his former company BharatPe -- the fintech firm that he had helped launch. But, his popularity among the show's fans continued through seasons with many still calling for him to be brought back into the panel.
