In a dramatic counting day to determine which party formed the new government for the next five years, The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) emerged with the majority, with 292 seats to their name, with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claiming a total of 240 seats, marking the conclusion of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections in the country.
Following the final result, reactions poured in from various quarters and one of the many who summarised the result on Tuesday was Shaadi.com founder Anupam Mittal, who expressed amazement at the mandate, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, where the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (I.N.D.I.A) alliance won 43 seats, and said it was a reflection of how to "never underestimate the power of the common man".
"Wow, what a mandate - especially UP. That’s why they say ‘never underestimate the power of the common man’ Now all eyes on BJP internal power dynamics & NDA politics. Picture abhi baaki hai," Mittal wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
Mittal further said that all eyes would now be on the BJP "internal power dynamics" and felt that there could be further drama in store in the coming days.
According to the final results, declared early on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to form the government for a third consecutive term, notwithstanding crushing losses in three Hindi heartland states after a bitterly fought election.
