If you are a WhatsApp user, chances are high that you have received at least one message from a scammer at some point of time. These scammers usually offer unsuspecting people a job or money in exchange for completing simple tasks like leaving a product review. However, one Bengaluru-based WhatsApp user quickly wised up to their ploy.

Chetty Arun’s conversation with a scammer is a masterclass on how to waste a conman’s time. Chetty, the culture head at Razorpay, shared screenshots of his exchange with a scammer posing as “Miss Lavanya” – the Assistant HR at Halcyon India.

In their WhatsApp conversation, the scammer told Chetty he could earn money by rating places on Google Maps. Instead of responding to the job offer, Chetty waylaid the scammer by saying, “Hi Lavanya, that’s a beautiful name. What does it mean?”

The scammer, posing as Lavayana, tried telling Chetty about the “reward package” – to which the Razorpay employee responded saying he had enough money, but not enough love.
