Mumbai Police on Friday took note of actor Pooja Bhatt’s complaint about a string of “brazen” robberies in the city’s upscale Bandra neighbourhood. Bhatt, a resident of Bandra West, said that several robberies have taken place in the neighbourhood over the last few weeks.

The robbers, she said, seemed well-informed about which places to target – often choosing the houses of senior citizens and buildings with no security. Moreover, the thefts are carried out with impunity, said Pooja Bhatt, noting that the thieves do not wear masks to hide their identity and do not seem to be discouraged by CCTV cameras.

The Zakhm actor requested increased police patrolling in the area. “Spate of robberies on Veronica, Rebello, St Roque Road in the last few days,” she wrote on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter). “Perpetuators seem informed & appear brazen. No masks & unafraid of CC TV cameras. Senior citizens/buildings with no security targeted. Need police patrolling in the vicinity.”

The official handle of Mumbai Police responded to the post saying Bandra Police Station had been informed.
Pooja Bhatt thanks the cops for their swift response and “action taken” in a follow-up tweet. She also raised alarm over a group of men who gather each evening opposite the Supari Talao playground, indicating a possible connection between them and the spate of robberies.

The men are not from the area but have been spending the night there for the last seven to eight months, said Bhatt.
