Passenger finds dead cockroach in meal served aboard Vande Bharat Express. IRCTC responds

A passenger travelling from Rani Kamlapati to Jabalpur aboard the Rewa Vande Bharat Express was shocked to find a dead cockroach in his meal. Pictures shared by the man showed the small insect in a curry. The issue gained attention when X user Shubhendu Keshari who is a doctor by profession shared pictures of his meal.

Keshari was served a pre-booked non-vegetarian thali aboard the train. Upon mixing the curry with rice, the man discovered the dead cockroach. Along with the pictures of his meal he also shared an image of the complaint form he filled out that clearly mentioned the date, train number and the name of a witness as well.

“I was traumatized by seeing dead COCKROACH in the food packet given by them,” Keshari wrote in a tweet addressed to the Indian Railways and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.

As Keshari’s post gained traction, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) responded to it with an apology. “Sir, our sincere apology for the experience you had. The matter is viewed seriously, and the hefty penalty has been imposed on the concerned service provider. Moreover, monitoring has been strengthened at the source,” IRCTC wrote.
