In a special Saturday sitting on January 27, the Supreme Court stayed proceedings at the Calcutta High Court relating to the alleged medical college admission scam.

The proceedings relating to this case created quite a stir in the Calcutta High Court after two judges warred over orders passed by each other.

During the course of the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that the two-judge bench of the High Court proceeded to hear an appeal without adequate pleadings filed, in direct violation of a Supreme Court judgment. The court however did not comment on the merits of the case and informed the lawyers that it would come up for hearing again on January 29.
