IIT Kanpur candidate didn't know 95% of things on his resume: Indian origin founder-CEO

Angad Daryani's original tweet which went viral stated that the first candidate was from IIT Kharagpur. He later issued a clarification and admitted to the 'slip up'. IIT Kharagpur also took cognisance of the incident.

An Indian-origin founder and CEO -- whose startup is building an advanced filterless air purification system -- claimed that an IIT Kanpur graduate who had applied to him for a job did not know about 95 percent of the things he mentioned in his resume.

California-based Angad Daryani said, "Candidate from IIT Kanpur who applied on our website, had mentioned 100 things on his resume, of which he knew five. He had four offers from other companies based on these 100 listed things, and when we quickly picked on the fact that he didn't actually know 95 percent of the things on his resume, he said, 'Oh wow, I respect you, now I want to work in your company.' What are they teaching at the IITs?"

Interestingly, Daryani's original tweet which went viral stated that the candidate was from IIT Kharagpur. He later issued a clarification and admitted to the "slip up". IIT Kharagpur also took cognisance of the incident.

"With regards to the candidate, it was my slip up looking at the IITK email address, the candidate was from the Kanpur campus and not Kharagpur campus, nonetheless we still spoke with him, have encouraged him to clean up his resume, learn few more things and write back to us to be re-evaluated as a mechanical engineer," Daryani wrote on Wednesday.

On Monday, The Praan founder had shared that his company has zero hires from IITs.
