The Telecom Commission has approved Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) recommendation to issue licenses to Virtual Network Operators (VNO) like Whatsapp, Skype and Viber among others.With this, the government has moved a step closer to regulating companies that provide telecom services without spectrum. The Telecom Commission discussed band-reserve-price for 700 Mega Hertz (MHz) and now seeks clarification on calculation of the same.This move will reduce marketing and sales cost of these service providers.Speaking to CNBC-TV18, Rajan Mathews, Director General, Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), says Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNOs) have done well globally particularly when there is a little competition.
