In the second leg of his three-nation tour, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Germany will inaugurate the Indo-German summit in Hannover on Monday. The PM will head to Berlin on Monday where he is expected to attend a community meeting hosted by the Indian Ambassador.
Speaking on his visit, Ministry of External Affairs spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said, "the PM's main focus was to seek feedback on how India can move ahead in terms of easing lives for businessmen.
He also assured the German business that they will see significant changes as time progresses because he has not laid out the framework and he is into the phase of implementation of that framework."
Modi is also likely to meet Netaji's grand nephew Subhash Chandra Bose in Berlin on Monday. His visit comes amid the row over snooping on the relatives of Subhas Chandra Bose. There were reports that certain Intelligence Bureau files showed that the Nehru government spied on Bose's family for 20 years between 1948 and 1968.
The report came a few days after it was revealed that former prime minister Jawaharlal Nehru spied on Bose's family for two decades from 1948 to 1968. Nehru died on May 27, 1964 and spying continued for four years even after his death.
Meanwhile, Bose's grandnephew Surya said that he will ask the Prime Minister for de-classification of files on the freedom fighter.
He said, "I have been invited to a reception in Berlin which the Prime Minister will attend. Hundreds of others have been invited and I hope I get a chance to meet the Prime Minister. I will bring up the snooping case if I get a chance to meet him. I am surprised my family was spied upon in independent India."
"PM Modi has the power to bring the files out in the open if he wants to. Now after these revalations have come out, it's become volatile. The declassification movement is now growing. I hope Modi will take time to look into it to open the files," he added.
Late on Sunday night, the PM delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of the Hannover trade fair. He assured business leaders that India has implemented sweeping reforms to make the nation more business friendly and Germany was a key partner to sustain India's growth story.
He also attended the unveiling ceremony of a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at City Hall. He attended a roundtable meeting with German CEOs and met NRIs who praised him for raising India's image across the world.
