"The Cabinet approved the Agriculture Ministry's proposal on increasing the MSP of raw jute to Rs 3,200 per quintal for 2016-17 from Rs 2,700 per quintal in the previous year," according to sources.

The decision is in line with the recommendations made by the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP), a statutory body that advises the government on the pricing policy for major farm produces.
