CEA in Swamy's crosshair: Is RSS holding NDA govt to ransom?

AK Bhattacharya of Business Standard said that Swamy is entitled to his views but BJP and the Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley have disassociated themselves from these comments.

The latest comments by BJP MP Subramanian Swamy against the government's Chief Economic Advisor Arvind Subramanian have yet again brought to the fore the maverick's outspoken nature but some are viewing the attack as being undertaken on behalf of the RSS, the BJP's ideological parent, a strong proponent of "swadeshi economics".Days after Raghuram Rajan announced his retirement as the RBI governor; Subramanian Swamy has found his new target in Arvind Subramanian, the Chief Economic Advisor to the government.Read more: After Rajan, Subramanian Swamy wants Arvind Subramanian to go

Speaking to CNBC-TV18, veteran editor AK Bhattacharya of Business Standard said Swamy's comments need to be seen in the "larger context" -- that he may be representing the views of the RSS.

He added that it appears the government and the Sangh have not reconciled and the public criticism of a key member of the party would be a worrying development for the lay observer.
