N Srinivasan has rejected the request made by some BCCI members to step down in the wake of IPL betting scandal in which his son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan has been arrested and sent to police custody, sources said.
Some BCCI members met the cricketing body's President and suggested former chief Shashank Manohar should replace him, sources added.
Meanwhile, BCCI disciplinary committee head Arun Jaitley said BCCI will take action after its anti-corruption bureau submits its report. The BCCI has been left facing with a massive crisis after three cricketers of the Rajasthan Royals, including India Test pacer S Sreesanth, were arrested for allegedly indulging in spot-fixing.
The arrests opened a pandora's box and the controversy reached Srinivasan's doorstep due to Gurunath's alleged betting link. The BCCI chief is under tremendous pressure to step down on moral grounds but has remained defiant so far.
