Indian-American comedian and Emmy-nominated writer Nimesh Patel hit out at US President Donald Trump’s Indian allies in a sharp, satirical segment on The Daily Show, hosted by Ronny Chieng. A segment of the episode, which aired in April, is now viral, and it shows Patel dissecting the growing visibility of Indian figures within the MAGA ecosystem — with biting commentary on politician Vivek Ramaswamy, Second Lady Usha Vance, and FBI director Kash Patel.
Nimesh Patel, introduced as “the Indian representative,” mocked what he called Trump’s version of DEI: “Indian people, the d***-eating Indians.” He singled out Ramaswamy, calling him a “herb” — a 90s slang term for someone trying too hard — and ridiculed his presidential campaign’s religious messaging. “His opening line was ‘God is real.’ Why did he make you 5’7”, Vivek?” Patel quipped, adding, “He has 5’7” energy.”
On Usha Vance, wife of Ohio Senator JD Vance, Patel said, “I’m praying she has Stockholm syndrome. Because otherwise, why is she with JD Vance?” The comment drew applause from the audience.
Patel reserved his most cautious remarks for Kash Patel, a former Trump aide and FBI director. “I’m not saying sh** about Kash Patel,” he said. “I’m not trying to get one of these one-way tickets to El Salvador.” He described Patel as “out for revenge,” referencing his upbringing in Long Island with the full name Kashyap Pramod Vinod Patel. “You should be very concerned,” he warned, before joking, “If I get pulled over, that is my cousin for sure.”
