Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd, the telecom arm of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), disclosed on June 26 its acquisition of additional spectrum in the 1800 MHz band in Bihar and West Bengal, in the latest spectrum auctions. The digital services provider said this move is intended to strengthen its network infrastructure and improve service quality in these areas.

Jio stated that it has expanded its 1800 MHz band spectrum in Bihar by 5.0 MHz (paired) and in West Bengal by 9.4 MHz (paired), amounting to a total of 14.4 MHz (paired). The total cost for this spectrum acquisition stands at Rs 973.63 crore, it said. The spectrum cost mentioned above can be paid in 20 equal annual instalments, with an interest rate of 8.65% per annum, as per the spectrum auction terms.
