Ericsson has begun exporting passive telecom antennas made in India through its Manesar-based contract manufacturer VVDN, marking a step toward positioning the country as a global hub for production and engineering.
The first India-made antenna for international markets was unveiled today, with commercial rollout slated for June and exports starting in July.
The announcement was made at an event attended by Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Ericsson said the antenna was developed through a year-long effort to build out a local ecosystem involving component manufacturing, sourcing, and engineering.
More than half the content in the antennas is now sourced locally, and the company is entering the next phase of its plan—expanding India-based engineering capabilities to support regional customisation and meet global demand.
Ericsson said all antennas produced in India will conform to its global standards for quality and performance.
Ericsson’s passive antennas are part of the company’s next-generation 5G infrastructure portfolio. The company said antennas play a critical role in helping telecom operators optimise performance, energy use, and cost of network ownership.

Nitin Bansal, Managing Director of Ericsson India, said the expansion strengthens India’s position as a hub for advanced manufacturing and supports the country’s telecom ecosystem.
