Chinese tech-giant Xiaomi has launched the MIUI 9, the highly anticipated upgraded version of its MI user interface.
The MIUI 9 will be based on Android Nougat. Over and above the basic features of Android Nougat the newer version has a faster app loading time. It also provides the user with a much more improvised and fluid experience due to its improved resource allocation.
Its main highlight is the “image search” feature by which the user can distinguish between images by simply typing in keywords. The smart assistant feature is another speciality that will aid the user in searching anything in the device.
Important options like ‘search’, ‘app suggestions’ and ‘news’ alongside other customised pages are similar to Apple’s spotlight feature in the iOS and are easily accessible by simply swiping the home screen.
The new version also brings three new themes and a default theme with new features including a redesigned lock screen and a new shortcut by which the torch can be activated directly by swiping on the lockscreen.
Xiaomi says that currently some features will only be available in China but the global version will not be very far off.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X will be the first phone to use the new user interface which will be launched on August 11 followed by Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4X according to a report on NDTV.
The company aims to use the beta version on other models like Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Mi 5, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5c, Mi Max, Mi 4S, Mi 4c, Mi Note Pro and Redmi 4X once the second phase is rolled out on 25 August.
