Jack Dorsey-backed social media platform, Bluesky, championed as the alternative to the short-blogging site X, formerly Twitter, is no longer invite-only and is open to everyone.
"For the past year, we used invite codes to help us manage growth while we built features like moderation tooling, custom feeds, and more. Now, we’re ready for anyone to join," the company announced through a blog post on February 6.

Bluesky claims to have more than 3 million users and bills itself as an open alternative to X, which, too, was founded as Twitter by Dorsey, who sold it to Elon Musk .
It aims to be a decentralise service that will support cross-platform communication.
Like rivals Instagram Threads and Mastodon, which use a federation algorithm called ActivityPub, Bluesky uses an algorithm called Authenticated Transfer Protocol, which allows users to use one account across multiple social media services.
Like X, users can create and share posts but unlike other platforms, Bluesky provides complete flexibility on how you want to view your timeline.

Users can toggle between a chronological feed that will show updates from people they follow or an algorithmic feed tailored to their areas of interests.
Users can also create their own feeds and let others subscribe to them. Similarly, the platform supports various content moderation methods that can be stacked together.
