NASA working on ChatGPT-like assistant for astronauts
The system will allow natural conversations with the AI and allow them to fix problems by talking to it.
- NASA aims to deploy the system on Lunar Gateway, a proposed space station that will be built to orbit the moon and provide support for the Artemis Mission, which aims to establish sustainable human presence on the moon.
- It won't be limited to just advanced maneuvers either. The eventual goal is to have an autonomous system that can manage payloads, data transmission, health monitoring, and more.
China's Baidu says its new AI beat ChatGPT on some metrics
Baidu was the first big Chinese tech company to debut a AI product to rival ChatGPT when it unveiled its language AI Ernie Bot in March.
- Baidu Inc, China’s leading search engine provider, said the latest iteration of its ChatGPT-style service had surpassed the widely popular Microsoft-backed OpenAI chatbot on multiple key metrics.
- Baidu said in a statement on June 27 that Ernie 3.5, the latest version of its Ernie AI model, had surpassed "ChatGPT in comprehensive ability scores” and outperformed "GPT-4 in several Chinese capabilities”.
US Congress to limit use of AI among staff: Report
According to a memo, staff are only allowed to use ChatGPT Plus, which is a paid version of the chatbot that comes with options to limit data collection.
- Web publication Axios has managed to get its hands on a memo written by House of Representatives administrative head Catherine Szpindor that sets restrictions on the use of AI chatbots among Congress staff.
- Szpindor told the staff to enable privacy settings, which are turned off by default and to "ensure that your history is not preserved and your interactions are not incorporated back into the large language model."
