Threads, the social media app from Instagram, continues to be upgraded with new features to improve since its inception last year. In an attempt to further improve user experience, the company is now rolling out the option to surface real-time search results for some users.
This information was revealed through a screenshot shared by Threads user Daniel Rodriguez, where we could see the new search functionality. Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, confirmed the change, stating that they are starting to test this feature with a small number of users.
He further stated that it was important for the company to make search results relevant and in real-time. While the recent filter does not still show results in chronological order, it is an important update, as the search results are now similar to X(formerly known as Twitter), where we can see the Top and Recent tabs for search queries.
Meta previously hinted about bringing the ability to search the latest posts on Threads, with Mosseri suggesting that they are always looking to improve Threads with user feedback. Earlier this year in January, we saw this search filter being rolled out accidentally for some users, but later the toggle was removed.
Meanwhile, Meta is also bringing the option to let users message profiles or accounts on Threads with the help of Instagram's DM space. Recently, Threads also introduced a trending topics feature on their interface, that displays five recent and trending topics.
The recent filter or toggle is still not available for every user on Threads, and only a limited number of users can use this feature. We also don’t know the exact timeline of its official release.
