Nokia's factory in Chennai has now produced seven million telecom units. The factory located in Sriperumbudur is one of the company's largest factories globally and manufactures infrastructure equipment for 4G and 5G networks in domestic and global markets.

The factory makes 5G New Radio (5G NR), 5G MIMO, 4G/LTE radios and fibre broadband equipment. The factory exports an estimated 50 percent of the production globally.
In a press statement, Nokia said that the "localisation of components has progressively increased by up to two times compared to previous years in 5G equipment manufacturing".

Another feather in its cap is that the factory uses wind and solar energy for its daily operations utilising up to 81 percent of green energy resources. It is targeting 100 percent utilisation of renewable energy for operations by 2025.
Nokia's head of global manufacturing and EMS management, Teemu Toiviainen said the Chennai factory is a testament to the skill and expertise of Indian talent. From being the first to manufacture 5G NR in India to producing 5G massive MIMO products and transport network elements.
