In a significant AI push, Google has announced a slew of features for its productivity apps, including Gmail, Docs, Meet and others. The features were announced at Google Cloud Next event in Las Vegas.

Starting June, Translate for me feature in Meet will automatically detect and translate captions into users’ preferred language. "With translate for me, we’re adding translated caption support for 52 new languages, bringing the total number of supported languages to 69,” said Aparna Pappu, vice president and general manager, Google Workspace, in a blog post.

Google Sheets is getting a new tables feature that formats and organises data in a revamped design. Pappu said that all users need to do is “select a template from our new set of building blocks — featuring everything from project management to event planning and inventory management — so you never have to build a spreadsheet from scratch again.” The feature will be made available for Workspace users in the coming weeks.
Google is also bringing an all-new tabs experience in Docs. This, as per Google, will help users organise related information in a single document. “We’re also making it easier to personalise documents with full-bleed cover images that extend from one edge of your browser to the other,” said Pappu. The new features will be available to all Docs users in the coming weeks.

In Gmail, there’s already the AI-powered Help me Write feature. Now, Google is adding voice prompting which will allow users to use their voice to send emails from the Gmail app.
