Mark your calendars for WWDC 2024, June 10-14. It’s going to be ‘Absolutely Incredible’ - Greg Joswiak’s (SVP Marketing at Apple) post on X (Formerly Twitter) almost gives it all away. There’s been huge speculation that this year’s World-wide developers Conference (WWDC) will be dominated by generative AI. Jowsiak’s not so subtle reference to AI all but confirms that speculation.

WWDC is Apple’s annual conference to showcase new software and technologies. It has also become a launchpad for new products of late. It typically takes place during a whole working week (Monday – Friday) in June. The conference combines presentation sessions, 1-on-1 lab consultations and other events. There’s also a major keynote address that is the most anticipated part of the conference. Last year Apple unveiled the Apple Vision Pro, it’s spatial reality headset as well as the 15-inch MacBook Air with the M2 chip during WWDC23. Apple uses WWDC to unveil new versions of its operating systems across categories from the iPhone to the Mac to the Apple Watch and iPad.

Apple is all set to unveil the developer version of iOS 18 at WWDC24. A developer beta will be showcased at this event before it rolls out a public beta a few weeks later (for those enrolled on Apple’s beta program). These updates will also coincide with the previews of software updates for the Apple Watch, iPad and Mac. The full and final version for iOS 18 will be available for all users by September when the new iPhone 16 series devices hit retail shelves.
