The 74-km Peripheral Ring Road (PRR) planned by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will be renamed as the Bengaluru Business Corridor, said Deputy CM and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar on January 17.
Speaking to reporters, Shivakumar said: "It has been decided to rename the proposed Peripheral Ring Road as Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC). We will be inviting a global tender for the Bengaluru Business Corridor within a week. Those who are losing land for the corridor will be compensated as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court."
He said the government has decided not to de-notify any land in any of the projects, including Bengaluru Business Corridor, despite pressure.
On compensation for farmers affected by the Bengaluru Business Corridor, he explained, "We have taken farmers into confidence. We called them for a discussion and we will discuss the issue in the cabinet meeting."
Shivakumar said that a new loop is being added to the Hebbal flyover, expected to reduce traffic congestion.

The PRR proposed in 2007, aimed to ease traffic congestion in the city's outskirts. The project, which is being implemented by Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) under Public-Private Partnership model on design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) basis, has made little progress so far.
The 74-km PRR is supposed to be an eight-lane access-controlled expressway linking Tumakuru Road and Hosur Road via Hesaraghatta Road, Doddaballapur Road, Ballari Road, Hennur Road, Old Madras Road, Hoskote Road and Sarjapur Road.The PRR project has a deadline of December 2027, but the initial cost has escalated from Rs 3,000 crore to Rs 21,091 crore. Despite two tender attempts in 2022, no bidders participated.
