Bengaluru police install dash cams in patrolling vehicles

"Dash cams can prove extremely useful in understanding the actual sequence of events unfolding on the roads, especially during law enforcement or public engagement situations. We will gain insight into the actual events transpiring there. Additionally, the use of body-worn cameras has also become integral to urban policing, ensuring the authenticity of incidents and placing responsibility on police officers as well as the public. They know they are under observation, which encourages responsible actions," Dayananda explained.

"These dashcams will enable real-time recording of events during patrols, providing valuable evidence for investigations and ensuring transparency in police interactions. This initiative not only enhances public safety but also fosters greater transparency and accountability within the police department," he said.

Responding to citizens installing dash cameras on their vehicles, Dayananda welcomed the move, stating, "It is welcome. In case of accidents or untoward incidents on the road, it will provide evidence."
