Apple has confirmed that the iPhone 12 launch will be a few weeks later than earlier expected. The company’s CFO, Luca Maestri, made the announcement during Apple’s Q3 2020 earnings call.
Maestri, while covering what to expect from Apple in fiscal Q4 2020, said that the company expects new iPhones to come several weeks later, reported 9to5Mac.
“As you know, last year we started selling iPhones in late September. This year, we expect supply to be available a few weeks later,” Maestri said during the call.
The company was recently rumoured to release new iPhones during the latter half of October. When Maestri was asked to clarify his comments during the question and answer part of the call, he said, “I said in my remarks that a year ago we launched new iPhone in late September. And I said that this year, the supply of the new product will be a few weeks later than that.”
The confirmation that the iPhone 12 will come later than usual is an unprecedented announcement by the company. In the past, Apple has refused to even acknowledge that a new iPhone will launch, let alone reveal any details about the release date.

The company, in the past, has announced new iPhones in September and released them on sale in October and November. In 2017, Apple announced the iPhone X but made it available only in November. The company had similar plans for the iPhone XR, which was announced alongside the iPhone XS series in September 2018 but went on sale the following month.
This year, Apple is expected to launch four new iPhone 12 models. The new iPhone 12 series is likely to feature 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch displays if rumours are to be believed.
