A video has gone viral on X in which Union home minister Amit Shah can be seen rebuking BJP leader and former Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan during the oath ceremony of Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu.
In the video, Tamilisai can be seen walking away after greeting Shah and former Vice President Venkaiah Naidu. However, Shah gestures her back and seemingly scolds her.
The incident comes amid infighting in the Tamil Nadu BJP unit after the party's poor show in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
Tamilisai, who lost from Chennai South, said that BJP would have fared well had it formed an alliance with its former ally AIADMK. She also questioned why the party gave posts to those with "criminal history".
The remarks did not go down well with the supporters of Tamil Nadu BJP chief K Annamalai, who launched an attack on Tamilisai on social media.
The video of Shah seemingly scolding Tamilisai caught the attention of social media users, who linked it to the rift between her and Annamalai.
"That looks like a strong admonishment from Amit shah ji to Tamilisai akka . But what could be the reason for this “public” warning ? Unwarranted public comments ?" one user commented.
"Is Amit Shah warning Tamil Nadu BJP leader Tamilisai? A couple of days ago, she publicly criticized Annamalai for breaking the alliance with AIADMK, embarrassing the BJP and its supporters!" said another user.
The BJP contested Lok Sabha polls with the support of smaller outfits including the PMK and drew a blank, though it registered an impressive, 11.24 per cent vote share.
The Congress, a DMK ally, won nine seats in Tamil Nadu and also emerged victorious in the lone Lok Sabha constituency in neighbouring Puducherry.
