The Congress high command has neither openly supported Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah nor criticized Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot's decision, since the party is in a tricky situation as demands for his resignation are growing. Party's Karnataka incharge Randeep Surjewala spoke to Siddaramaiah on Tuesday following the court's verdict, advising caution. While Siddaramaiah has rejected opposition calls for his resignation, the Congress vowed to fight "legally and politically" against what it described as the Centre's "nefarious motives."

State government spokesperson Priyank Kharge clarified that the party is neither silent nor inactive. He has categorically said that the question of Siddaramaiah’s resignation doesn’t arise, accusing the Centre of using constitutional institutions to push political agendas, as seen in other non-NDA ruled states like Delhi and Jharkhand.
