Sangli Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024 Latest Updates: Maharashtra will go to polls on November 20, 2024. Sangli is one of the 288 Assembly constituencies, which will see the voting in the single-phase poll on Wednesday. As per the Election Commission of India, Sangli is a General (GEN) constituency in Maharashtra. The main contenders in this constituency are the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC).
In the last state election, the BJP has won the seat. Dhananjay Alias Sudhir Hari Gadgil from the BJP had defeated Prithviraj Gulabrao Patil of the Congress.
The 2019 poll data shows that BJP’s Gadgil secured victory by polling 93,636 votes with a vote share of 49.63%, defeating Congress’ Patil, who garnered 86,697 votes with a 45.95% vote share.

BJP: Dhananjay Alias Sudhirdada Hari Gadgil, who is the current MLA from Sangli is contesting on BJP’s ticket once again
Congress: Prithviraj Patil, who has been unsuccessful in his electoral foray, will be fighting the battle on Congress ticket.
Independent: It can be a triangular battle with Congress’s star rebel Jayashree Patil contesting the state poll from Sangli as an Independent candidate.
Dhananjay Alias Sudhirdada Hari Gadgil was also the winner in 2014 Assembly elections. Contesting on the BJP ticket, Gadgil had got 41.2 percent of the vote share.
Once known as Congress bastion under the leadership of the Vasantdada Patil's family, Sangli has now become the stronghold of the BJP in the last two state polls. The Grand Old Party of India lost its prominence in recent years due to divisions within the family, which gave way to the BJP to make its presence in this region.
This time around, the election seems to be very interesting as the Congress will face the rebel in Jayashree Patil, who is fighting the poll as an Independent candidate.
