Amrit Bharat Express, being described as the sleeper version of the high-speed Vande Bharat trains, will be launched soon. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag it from Ayodhya," Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, who inspected the train coaches and locomotives in New Delhi on December 25.

The train is based on two technologies - push-pull and distributed power, which highlight the success of "Make in India" initiative, Vaishnaw said. The country now has a "new level of competence" in terms of designing and developing trains, the minister added.

The push-pull technology leads to "better acceleration", as the trains are "quick to pick up speed". This helps in reducing time through journey that involves lot of curves, he explained.

"In the distributed power technology, every second or third coach has a motor which runs with the help of electricity supplied through overhead equipment. Vande Bharat trains are based on distributed power technology," Vaishnaw added.
