Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday spoke to French President Emmanuel Macron and discussed a variety of issues.
Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, "Had a very good conversation with President Macron. We reviewed and positively assessed the progress in bilateral cooperation in various areas. Exchanged views on international and regional issues, including efforts for bringing an early end to the conflict in Ukraine."
"The India-France Strategic Partnership will continue to play a key role in fostering global peace and stability," his X post said.
This has come as the second conversation that the two leaders have held in the last one month. On August 21, Macron had spoken to PM Modi and the two leaders had discussed ongoing efforts to find a peaceful resolution to the war in Ukraine and the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Macron also met Ukrainian Prez Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Paris on Thursday, along with other European leaders. The meeting was held under the banner 'Coalition of the Willing', and the European leaders discussed the possibility of intervention of European military in Ukraine, but only with US backing.
The Russian side has, however, warned Europe over the meeting, and has said that it would not accept any 'foreign intervention' in Ukraine.
