Movement of traffic resumed normalcy on Ring Road after the water level of the Yamuna started receding at a steady pace on July 17, as per an advisory issued late in the day. Traffic movement is functional on both carriageways between the Wazirabad Flyover via Majnu ka Tila to ISBT Kashmere Gate for both medium and light vehicles.
Traffic operations also kicked back to normal for medium and light vehicles on the carriageway from ISBT Kashmere Gate through the Salimgarh bypass up to the IP flyover. However, the MGM Road to Raj Ghat to Shanti Van, and from Shanti Van to View Point is still closed to traffic.
Himachal Rains LIVE Updates: Jal Shakti Department suffers massive losses
The Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Mukesh Agnihotri, said on July 17, that the Jal Shakti Department has suffered losses to the tune of Rs 1,411 crore owing to the floods and landslides triggered by torrential rains in the state. As per the minister, 5,203 drinking water schemes, 1,237 irrigation schemes and 55 sewerage schemes have been affected, and 101 flood control works damaged. Agnihotri, who also holds the Jal Shakti Vibhag portfolio, said 4,623 schemes have been restored so far.
The hill state has been among the worst affected this monsoon due to the torrential rains damaging life and property, and triggering floods, and landslides in several places. Himachal Pradesh has reportedly suffered losses to the tune of Rs 4,415 crore.

The Delhi government has temporarily suspended relocation operations for residents from low-lying areas. The latest development comes after theYamuna's consistent rise in water level since the morning of July 17.
Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, has been constantly updating the public on the relief and restoration work of the Delhi government through his Twitter handle.
Early on July 17, he had tweeted saying that the Wazirabd water treatment plant has commenced operating at a reduced capacity of 54 MGD. The plant operations had to be shut down due to the flood-like situation in the capital city. The equipment was the most affected by the floods, Kejriwal said. He further noted that the facility will resume operations at full capacity soon.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a "yellow alert" for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar areas from July 17-20, predicting moderate to heavy rainfall. The city witnessed light to moderate rainfall during the early hours of July 17 in several areas, triggering traffic bottlenecks during peak office hours.
The IMD further noted that rains will continue to intensify further in north and south Konkan, owing to a cyclonic circulation forming over the Bay of Bengal in the next five days. It also issued a "yellow alert" for Pune, Raigad, Kolhapur and Satara. In addition, an "orange alert" has been issued for Satara, Pune, Raigad and Ratnagiri for the later half of this week on predictions of very heavy rainfall.
