The Counter-Intelligence Unit of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, on Friday, raided multiple locations in Kashmir. These locations, including, Shopian, Kulgam, Budgam, Awantipora, Pulwama, Kupwara and Srinagar, have been linked to cross-border terror network, reports have said.

Officials said that the raids are related to a terror crime case that the Counter-Intelligence Unit is currently investigating. Probe experts have identified multiple individuals who have been suspected of allegedly using a messaging application that has been specifically encrypted. This application has been reportedly used by terrorists to establish contact with handlers from across the border.

The searches at these locations come as part of the wider crackdown on suspected places and individuals that has become the priority for multiple security agencies across India after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 people and left the entire nation in shock.

Security agencies across India have stepped up operations to identify individuals who have been involved with Pakistan and have been allegedly passing on sensitive information to the neighbouring country.
