India defeated Pakistan in Operation Sindoor because of this simple factor

India successfully carried out all its strikes against Pakistan during Operation Sindoor. This was possible simply because we had a modern air defence system and other indigenously developed advanced weapons, on which the country had invested heavily in the last few decades, that helped New Delhi beat Islamabad, experts said during an event on May 16.

“India has been very much alive over the last decade or so. In fact, we have gone in a very concerted way to look at both UKVS which are unmanned combat air vehicles, aerial vehicles and UAVs,” said Lt Gen (Retd) Inderjeet Singh, strategic advisor of Ideaforge Technology during a panel discussion on “Defending Bharat” at the Powering Bharat Summit 2025.

The panel discussion was hosted by Dr Nalin Mehta, managing editor of Moneycontrol. Moreover, Singh said India has the capability and is among the best in the world when it comes to drone tech. “So as far as capability is concerned let me assure that today India has the capability and we are one of amongst the best in the world and it is proven today in the little skirmish which has taken place,” he said.

India started investing in its indigenous weapons system such as missiles way back in early 1980s. In 1983, the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme was launched, which later transitioned in the BrahMos missile programme.
