As counting for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections is all set to begin on Friday, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLC Sunil Singh has issued a strong warning against any irregularities in the process, saying that alleged fraud could push the state into turmoil.
Speaking to the media, Singh said, “…If there is fraud in the elections, Bihar will be turned into another Nepal or Bangladesh. Ordinary people are vigilant, and our workers and coalition supporters are on alert."
"We will not tolerate even one percent of malpractice. I appeal to officials to act honestly: conduct the counting fairly, separate truth from falsehood, and perform your duties with integrity. Do not become guided instruments serving someone else. If fraud occurs, those responsible will not be able to remain in power for long," he added.
His remarks came amid heightened political tension in Bihar, where both the ruling NDA and the opposition-led alliance have claimed confidence in their performance as votes are tallied.
Election officials have maintained that counting will be carried out under strict security and transparency measures, with multiple layers of verification in place.
The RJD leader’s sharp statement underscores the charged atmosphere as parties await the final results, which will determine the political course of Bihar for the next five years.
The counting for Bihar polls will begin at 8 am on Friday. The counting will take place across 46 centres under a three-tier security wing. Central forces will be guarding the inner perimeter and state police will be manning the outer layer.
With this, access to the counting centres remains tightly regulated by observers and magistrates. Round-the-clock CCTV monitoring is in place, and over the past week, the Election Commission and district administrations have conducted multiple drills for the process, including testing cameras, verifying access logs as well as fine-tuning crowd-control protocols.
