More than 31.20 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in India on June 5, the Union Health Ministry's latest provisional report suggested. With that, the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has crossed 23 crore.
On day-141 of the vaccination drive (June 5, 2021), a total of 31,20,451 vaccine doses were given. As many as 28,70,693 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the 1st dose and 2,49,758 for the 2nd dose of vaccine, as per the provisional report till 7 pm.

The nationwide vaccination drive was launched on January 16 for healthcare and frontline workers and was subsequently expanded to include everyone over the age of 18.
Registration on CoWIN platform for the third phase began on April 28 and is mandatory for the 18-44 age group.
Here are key developments related to the COVID-19 vaccination process:
Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal have administered more than 10 lakh beneficiaries in the age group 18-44 years for the first dose of COVID vaccine.
The Haryana government has received an expression of interest from an international pharmaceutical company headquartered in Malta to provide up to 60 million doses of Sputnik V vaccine to the state, it said on June 5.
The state had floated a global tender for COVID-19 vaccine shots through the Haryana Medical Services Corporation (HMSCL) on May 26.
The Health Ministry has said that private hospitals have received over 1.20 crore doses of anti-coronavirus vaccines in May. A large number of private hospitals that had a contract with Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech have been supplied with Covishield and Covaxin doses respectively, it said in a statement.
Brazil has given clearance to the proposal to import Bharat Biotech's COVID-19 vaccine Covaxin into the South American country with some conditions. The National Health Surveillance Agency of Brazil-Anvisa - had earlier denied permission to import Covaxin after authorities found that the Indian plant in which the jab was being made did not meet the good manufacturing practice (GMP) requirements.
