Budget Session 2022 Highlights:  Rajya Sabha on February 2 debated the President's Address to the join session of Parliament delivered on January 31.  Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, in his remarks, hit out at the BJP-led Central government for failing to address the problem of unemployment in the country. Kharge, speaking during the debate on President’s Address, said the government should have provided 15 crore jobs, if it kept its two crore-per-year jobs promise made in 2014.  “In 2014, you (BJP) promised 2 crore jobs every year. You should have provided 15 crore jobs by now. But how many jobs did you actually provide?” the Congress leader Kharge questioned. The proceedings of the Upper House were adjourned for the day at 3 pm. The House will reconvene at 10 am on February 3.  The Budget Session of the Parliament that commenced on January 31 with President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to both the houses.  Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented Budget 2022-23 on February 1. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to begin the debate on President's Address in Lok Sabha at 4 pm. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to reply on February 8. The session is being held amid the COVID-19 pandemic . The timings of the session of both the houses will be staggered with the Rajya Sabha sitting from 10 am to 3 pm and Lok Sabha from 4 pm to 9 pm. The session will continue till April 8, with a month-long break after the first part culminates on February 11.

Budget Session 2022 LIVE Updates | India receives FDI worth USD 54.1 bn during April-November

Total foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows during April-November 2021 stood at USD 54.10 billion, Parliament was informed on Wednesday. Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Som Parkash said the government has put in place a liberal and transparent policy for FDI, wherein most of the sectors are open under the automatic route.To further liberalise and simplify FDI policy for providing the ease of doing business and attract investments, reforms have been undertaken recently across sectors such as coal mining, contract manufacturing, digital media, single-brand retail trading, civil aviation, defence, insurance and telecom, he said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. "During the current financial year 2021-22 (up to November 2021), FDI inflows worth USD 54.10 billion have been reported in the country," he said.
