The BJP on Tuesday released its second list of 21 candidates for the Haryana assembly elections, fielding Captain Yogesh Bairagi against Congress's Vinesh Phogat in Julana.
The list also features two Muslim candidates—Naseem Ahmed from Ferozepur Jhirka and Aizaz Khan from Punahana.
Bairagi will square off against ace wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who joined Congress last week and was announced as the grand old party's candidate from Julana. The constituency is currently represented by Amarjeet Dhanda of JJP.
Captain Yogesh Bairagi is the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) Vice-President and the co-convener of BJP sports cell (Haryana) while Vinesh Phogat is a wrestler-turned politician, who recently joined Congress.
With the latest list, BJP has now announced candidates for 88 out of 90 seats in the state.
On September 4, the party had released its first list of 67 candidates, fielding chief minister Nayab Singh Saini from the Ladwa seat. On Tuesday, Saini has officially filed his nomination to contest from the Ladwa constituency. He submitted his nomination in the presence of Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Other notable names in the list were Anil Vij from Ambala Cantt, Sunita Duggal from Rati, Gian Chand Gupta from Panchkula, Kanwar Pal Gurjar from Jagadhri, Bhavya Bishnoi from Adampur, and Tejpal Tanwar from Sohna.
