Bihar's power-sharing formula: Who gets what in Nitish Kumar's new Cabinet

The BJP is set to get 17 ministerial berths and the post of the Speaker which is expected to go to senior leader Prem Kumar. Meanwhile, the JDU will get 15 berth, including the post of CM.

Ahead of Nitish Kumar taking oath as Chief Minister of Bihar, a power-sharing pact has been reached upon by the NDA, according to News18.

The BJP is set to get 17 ministerial berths and the post  of the Speaker which is expected to go to senior leader Prem Kumar. Meanwhile, the JDU will get 15 berth, including the post of CM.  The LJP (Ram Vilas), HAM (Secular), and Rashtriya Lok Morcha (RLM) will be assigned two, one, and one ministerial slots, respectively.

Meanwhile, a JD(U) insider told PTI that the party was seeking a stronger presence in the new cabinet. “We had only 12 ministers last time. With our numbers up sharply, we expect more representation," said the JD(U) member.

According to News18, BJP’s Ramkripal Yadav and Shreyasi Singh have received the call to join the cabinet. While Yadav has been elected MLA from Danapur, Patna, after defeating RJD’s sitting MLA Ritesh Lal Yadav, Singh is the MLA from Jamui. Also, BJP’s Rama Nishad, who became an MLA for the first time, is expected to get a birth. Nishad won the election from Aurai for the first time.
