Bihar Government announced on Wednesday that the Nitish Kumar Cabinet has approved a Rs 882.87 crore plan for development of Janaki Dham in Sitamarhi, on the lines of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra in Ayodhya.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Office tweeted in a post on X in Hindi: "In the meeting of the Council of Ministers held on 01.07.2025 under the chairmanship of Honourable Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar Ji, approval was granted for a comprehensive plan for the overall development of Punaura Dham, the birthplace of Maa Sita, located in Sitamarhi district."

"This plan will be developed on the lines of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirth Kshetra, Ayodhya. For this, administrative approval of a total of Rs 882.87 crore has been granted. This decision is a significant step towards gaining national recognition for the cultural and religious heritage of the Mithila region," the CM's office further shared on social media platform X.

 

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had announced that the state cabinet has approved a comprehensive development plan for Punaura Dham, the revered birthplace of Goddess Sita in Sitamarhi district.
