The Amravati Assembly constituency is one of the most fiercely-contested seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections this time. A general category seat, the Amravati Assembly constituency is a part of the Amravati Lok Sabha constituency along with five other Vidhan Sabha assembly constituencies - Badnera, Teosa, Daryapur (SC), Melghat (ST) and Achalpur.
In the 2019 elections, Sulbha Sanjay Khodke of the Indian National Congress secured a win in Amravati with 82,581 votes, defeating Sunil Panjabrao Deshmukh of BJP by a margin of 18,268 votes.
The constituency will go to polls on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23.

Amravati Election 2024: Voting and Result Date
The Amravati Assembly constituency will go to polls on November 20 along with the 287 other Assembly constituencies in the state. Voting on all Assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23. The term of the current Maharashtra legislative assembly ends on November 26.
Amravati Assembly Election 2024 Significance
The Assembly elections in Maharashtra comes after five years of political turbulence in the state. Since the previous Assembly elections, the Shiv Sena and the NCP have both seen vertical splits and being divided into two factions each.
While the Shiv Sena and the BJP contested the elections together the last time and won a clear majority, they could not form a government in the state after their alliance came undone. The Shiv Sena then joined hands with the NCP and Congress and the government was formed.
However, less than halfway into its term, the government fell after a split in the Shiv Sena that saw Eknath Shinde become Chief Minister. A year later, a split in the NCP saw Ajit Pawar also join the government with a significant chunk of MLAs.
