Election Commission of India's latest data revealed that Badshahpur has emerged as the largest assembly constituency in Haryana while Narnaul is the smallest.
Badshahpur has 5.2 lakh names on the voters' list while Narnaul in Mahendragarh has a voter base of 1.6 lakh.
According to The Times of India that cites EC data, Haryana has added nearly 2.8 lakh voters ahead of the upcoming elections, bringing the state’s total to 2 crore.
Badshapur constituency
Badshahpur constituency came into existence only in 2008 and the first elections were held in 2009. The place has seen a rapid voter growth that signifies its growing importance in Haryana’s political landscape.
Congress’s Rao Dharampal had won elections in 2009. In 2014, BJP’s Rao Narbir Singh won the seat. 2019 witnessed a surprising twist when BJP denied Singh a ticket, and Independent Rakesh Daultabad clinched victory by more than 10,000 votes, the TOI report said.
According to the report, Badshahpur now surpasses several other major constituencies, including Gurgaon, often considered the economic and political hub of the state.
There are 15 candidates in the fray with the main contenders being Rao Narbir Singh (BJP) and Vardhan Yadav (Congress).
Narnaul constituency
Narnaul has the smallest voter base in the state, with just 1.6 lakh names on the list. The constituency is less than one-third the size of Badshapur, the largest one.
In 2019, Narnaul had total 1,44,066 electors. Total number of valid votes was 98,894. Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Om Prakash Yadav won and became an MLA.
In 2014, BJP's Om Prakash won secured the seat. The constituency had total 1,27,967 electors.
