Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular good bets: Nadkarni

Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular are good bets in telecom space, says Girish Nadkarni of Avendus Capital.

Nadkarni told CNBC-TV18, “If any investor has to make a call the -call that needs to be made is at least holding for a period of between 12-24 months. Anything before that period the markets are likely to be volatile with elections coming up in a year’s time and therefore the market is starting to discount it five to six months in advance.”
He further added, “The markets will be very volatile, there will be a state of bad news like results and some other things that may come. There will be good news as well coming up on the reforms front, we have seen some action there so from a long-term perspective which is 12-24 months the two-wheeler sector stocks are down to reasonable levels right now and one can start accumulating two-wheeler stocks. As far as telecom goes we need to be selective. Companies like Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular are good bets but you should do that with the possibility that in the interim you might see some spikes on the downside. So, good time to accumulate from a long-term perspective but with volatility in the short-term."
