Food and grocery delivery major Swiggy has entered the gifting space with Giftables, an on-demand platform that enables users to send curated gifts in minutes, the company announced on September 4.
The service, currently live in Bangalore and expanding to metros including Mumbai and Delhi, appears as a tab within the main Swiggy app rather than a standalone application.
Giftables offers over 10,000 curated options spanning cakes, chocolates, flowers, electronics, jewellery, toys, and more. Users can combine multiple items into a single order, such as a cake with flowers or sweets with perfume, eliminating the need to juggle multiple platforms. Deliveries are expected within 10–60 minutes, catering to both last-minute and pre-planned gifting occasions.
The platform will soon introduce an AI-powered gifting chatbot, which recommends items based on the occasion, relationship, or recipient’s personality. Shoppers can describe whether the recipient is health-conscious, outgoing, fashion-forward, or elegant, and the AI will suggest thoughtfully curated options.
“Gifting is often last-minute and full of uncertainty. With Giftables on Swiggy, users get curated, high-quality options delivered in under an hour. No more juggling platforms or settling for uninspired gifts,” said Phani Kishan, Co-Founder and Chief Growth Officer, Swiggy.
Giftables is housed within Swiggy's main app, alongside Swiggy's other verticals, including its quick commerce arm Instamart and Dineout. It remains to be seen whether the company will spin off the service as a separate app, as it has recently done with Instamart and its 15-minute food delivery service Snacc.
The launch is timed ahead of the year-end festive season, when demand for personalised, fast, and reliable gifting peaks. Swiggy aims to address common pain points in gifting, including indecision over what to send, coordinating multiple orders, and ensuring timely delivery. By offering a combination of curated products, AI assistance, and rapid delivery, the platform seeks to make gifting seamless, thoughtful, and stress-free.
With Giftables, Swiggy is expanding its on-demand convenience ecosystem beyond food and groceries, reinforcing its position as a one-stop platform for daily needs and seasonal occasions, while leveraging its established logistics and delivery network to meet growing consumer expectations.
