Nissan is undergoing a broad cost-cutting campaign by eliminating jobs and shuttering plants as it grapples with its worst financial position in more than two decades

Nissan Motor Co. has agreed to sell its global headquarters in Yokohama for ¥97 billion ($630 million) to a group sponsored by Taiwanese autoparts maker Minth Group, as the struggling automaker seeks to shore up its financial position.

The acquisition will be led by a special purchase company managed by KJR Management, a Japanese real estate unit of private equity giant KKR & Co., according to people familiar with the matter, who asked not to be named discussing private information. Bloomberg News reported the deal earlier.

KJR said it will act as asset manager together with Mizuho Real Estate Management.

Shares of Nissan, which will release earnings later Thursday, rose as much as 3.9% in Tokyo before paring gains to 1.1%. The stock is still down around 27% this year. Minth Group’s Hong Kong-listed shares were down 0.5% after a three-day rally.
